More from the Christmas in July Virtual Crop

Playing along this weekend with the Kitchen Keepsake Group.

Another challenge was to make a Christmas card using non-traditional papers.

I made a few for this challenge, using a paper pack I had. - It's a 2009 Paper Pack from My Minds Eye called Complete Boy.  Must have been something  just for Michaels because it wasn't listed on their website in the retired section.  I have old product and I'm not afraid or ashamed to use it.

This first one is using some of the paper as well as cardstock, plus I had an embellishment from the My Minds Eye 2011 Lost and Found Christmas Set.

The next one uses papers from the same pack, and a Hampton Art Ditto Christmas Stamp (PS0689).

and finally, using the same paper pack and a stamp from a Michaels Reflections Stamp set.

I have old stamps too .... but the thing about stamps is they never go bad.  You can use them over and over, and they store easily too.

A few more Cards to Share

Still playing with My Minds Eye Hip Hip Hooray collection.  So here's a few more that I've done.

So, I guess you could say, I make lots of cards.  More than I can use, even if I sent them to everyone I know.  So I've come across a local no kill cat shelter up in Eustiss, called the Cat Protection Society. Since all four of my furbabies were strays at one time, no kill shelters are something I am willing to support.

This one, has a retail shop where they sell donated items to raise money to run the shelter.  So, I've decided that I will put the cards in individual baggies and bring them by for the shelter to sell, this way they will stay clean yet still be visible for people to decide which to purchase.  In my eyes, it's kind of the best of both worlds -- I still can make cards and not feel guilty about the overabundance, and I'll be helping out a worthy cause.

From their website, they also recycle and take in aluminum cans, so I'm starting to save those for them, and they have many items listed on their wishlist, that I may not personally use, but through couponing may be able to get a good price and donate.

In this economy, I may not have much in discretionary income, but there are lots of ways I can think of to help out this charity without spending huge amounts of money.  I urge you to find a local charity that resonates with you (or take a look at this one), and see how you can help.  I know for many, money is tight, but it is tight for charities as well.

In January, I said I'd commit to doing 13 acts of Kindness over the course of the year, so this is one thing I will do that will go towards that goal.  For me, even thought I will probably donate throughout the year, I'll count this as 1 of those acts of kindness.

Well, that's all I have for now, tonight is the car show hopefully so that'll be good.

Cards to share

and it is a great Friday ... looking forward to the weekend!

So I've been playing around with a My Minds Eye paper pack called Hip Hip Hooray.  This one was for boys, but it really works for anyone.  It's from 2011, but I don't care much about whether it is a current product or not.  The people I give the cards to are not usually scrappers, so they just like the card, and don't really know that it's an older paper line.  In any case, here are some birthday cards that I made.  I actually made them the last time I was in Sebring, but since I wasn't posting to the blog then, I thought I'd share here now.

Tomorrow, I'll share some more.  I make cards quite a bit, they're kind of my therapy if you will.

A few more Halloween Cards ...

So this past weekend, I was cropping with some friends at the house.  In between the drama with Comcast (another story all together), I did get some cards done.

I was using up some Pink Paislee paper I had on hand.

This one was from the Hocus Pocus line and I mainly used the sticker sheet from the line.

made from the same Hocus Pocus line of paper and stickers.  The ribbon is crate paper.  The sticker sheet was cool as it had the banner stickers.  I just used them on a darker background paper so they would pop more.

And finally ...

This one also used the Hocus Pocus paper line.  The skeleton was part of the design of one of the sheets of paper.  I used a translucent white Smooch ink so he is sort of irridescent.  The ribbon is by Sticky Trims.  I also used some orange stickles to make the skeleton look like he was in a picture frame.

I've pretty much been working on cards all weekend, so I'll have more to share in the days to come.

Some Halloween Cards ....

Last weekend I was at the Hilltop Memories Creepover crop.  For me, the crop was more about some much needed R&R then actually accomplishing any projects, but I did manage to complete some Halloween cards while I was there.

These were done with some leftover papers I've accumulated.

This first one was using Making Memories Spook Alley Paper, and Reminisce Verbal Creepy Paper, the buttons are Studio G, and the striped trim is called sticky trim.

This one was done with Reminisce papers - Lil Witch and Verbal Creepy.  The colors in the photo are not true as the background paper is actually more to the orange side.  The stamps are by the Stamps of Life a set called Banners4All, I also used stickles to outline the banners and for some accent.

And the third one actually my favorite.

The paper is from the Teresa Collins, Halloween and Trick or Treat from the Spooktacular Line, and Making Memories Spook Alley Bat Newsprint paper.  The stamps are one of those mini sets you find in the dollar bin and is by Inkadinkadoo.  The diamonds are popped up for dimension.   I also used Smooch Inks on the skeletins.  The buttons are Studio G and teh rhinestone is Michaels line.

This weekend I've been been cropping in my studio, so tomorrow I'll post some more cards I've made.

Card - Wishing You Well

I've had a little time lately to be crafty, and I've been making some cards.  This is one I did using a DCWV paper pack called La Creme.  It's been out for a while but you can still find it in some of the stores.  it is one of my favorites.  The papers are all black and creme, and some of the papers have flocking on them.

All of a sudden, I've felt like stamping and scrapping. It's been a long time since I've felt creative.  All I know is it makes me happy.

Make-N-Takes from the Crop

Another late night, but I figure I'd just do a quick post here before I go to sleep for a bit.  I did find my card reader so I can post some pics from the Make-N-Takes we did at the crop.

The first one is from Friday.  It is a beachy themed card with vellum we colored and the ultra fine glitter on the sun.  I really love this card. Crop MakeNTake - Relax
It's got a "real" straw and one of those umbrellas.

The next project we did Saturday.  It is a wood box with a slide lid that was called a card box, but could be used for other things as well.  We first stamped on it with a versamark then embossed with white embossing powder, then used the Distress Stain daubers to color.  After staining the box, we added some embellishments from Tattered Angels.  I've never worked with Glimmer Glass.  Who knew that you could heat it up and mold it so it's no longer flat.  Amazing stuff.  You may or may not be able to see it but the umbrella and the sun have the glimmer glass that I molded.

Crop MakeNTake - Box
I can see me trying this again.  It was fun, and surprisingly quick to do (unless you are an overachiever like some people - no names mentioned).

Oh well, it's off to bed I go.  At least today I'm making it before the sprinklers come on.  I'll have to give a final report tomorrow but I know I completed over 50 cards and a mini album, plus some ATCs.  I don't know what if anything I'll get accomplished tomorrow so we'll just have to see.  The next crop is just a couple of weeks away, so it's all good.

A couple of Cards

I seem to be on a creative roll here.  I actually love being this way.  I look forward to getting home so I can play a bit.  So here's a couple more of my creations.  The first uses the BoBunny Flutter Butter line-LetsGetTogether and the second one uses the BoBunny Party Line.-TodayIsYourDay

For both sets I've used some stamps from The Stamps of Life.  They have a monthly club where each month you get a new stamp set.  I'm sad to say, I've been receiving them for a couple of months now and haven't had any play time.  So these were the first stamps I grabbed to play with, and I love them.  I can't wait to get this months which has a tree and a little bird.  Should be here just about any day now.  They also have mid month releases, so I've got to check those out too.
